Flawless Execution for a Global Healthcare Company’s Leadership Retreat

Background: Maritz Global Events has a reputation for designing exceptional experiences for companies and organizations around the world. They were engaged by a global healthcare company to plan and execute a four-day leadership retreat for 20 high-level employees. The program would be held at the newly-reopened, historic 5-star Cavalier Hotel.

Novartis-Maritz Travel Cavalier Event Opportunity: Maritz recognized the need for an outstanding local DMC to lead several program elements across the four day meeting. This included furniture layout and design, as well as rental and installation of multiple spaces within the elegant Grand Ballroom at the hotel for the duration of the meeting. Additionally, the DMC would have the opportunity to create and execute an off-site, evening team building program.

Result: In a very short timeframe, we sourced and presented a variety of furniture options to meet the requirements outlined by the meeting planner. The high-level attendee needs, combined with the multi-purpose functionality of the venue space, had to be taken into consideration with each selection. Once decisions were made, we managed rental agreements, load-in, layout and break-down of the furniture within the Ballroom, which was divided into two unique spaces across the four days.
Additionally, the 20 attendees enjoyed an off-site team building event at a local, contemporary urban winery. Upon arrival to the winery, the executives were offered “hibiscus sparkler” signature drinks and “grazing boards” of artisanal cheeses, flatbreads and fresh fruit. This was followed by a “paint night” led by a local artist who guided attendees through creating their own piece of painted artwork with a coastal theme to remember their time at the beach. Guests then enjoyed a seated, three-course meal with wine pairings and concluded with a  guided chocolate tasting from a local chocolatier. Each guest left with a sweet treat to take home. Our team designed and managed this special event from end to end, including transportation, catering, guided paint activity and on-site staffing. The program met the clients’ objective to create a memorable evening where attendees could enjoy each other’s company, while being treated to a unique, local experience.
